Paris - Marc Jacob's Exhibition
Louis Vuitton's hotly-anticipated Marc Jacobs exhibition will open at Les Arts Décoratifs in Paris on March 9 until September 16. A celebration of the designer's 15-year-long reign at the luxury label, the exhibition will be curated by leading fashion author and lecturer Pamela Colbin.
The showcase will look at both Jacobs' and Vuitton's contributions to the fashion world, seperately as well as together once Jacobs joined the 158-year-old label in 1997. The space will cover two floors, with each dedicated to one of the two exhibition subjects. Visitors can expect to see Jacobs' most famous designs for the French fashion house, alongside a selection of Vuitton's iconic trunks.

NEWGEN Sponsorship Announced
The British Fashion Council (BFC) today announced the names of 15 of London’s brightest emerging fashion design talents who have been selected to receive BFC NEWGEN sponsorship, supported by Topshop, to show at London Fashion Week in February 2012. NEWGEN, established in 1993, is one of the world’s most internationally recognised fashion design talent identification schemes. This season will see the 10th anniversary celebrations of Topshop's continuous backing of the scheme at London Fashion Week. Major celebrations of the ten years which have taken a myriad of London NEWGEN designers to the top are planned for February.

Turner Prize
Congratulations to sculptor Martin Boyce, who was announced as the winner of this year's Turner Prize last night at the Baltic in Gateshead.
His sculpture involves lopsided litter bins, rusting benches taking on irregular shapes, square trees, leaves with brutally straightened edges scattered on the floor and sharp, haphazard letters of the alphabet cascading down the walls. Virtually everything is made with straight lines and angles, with no organic curves.
Asked about his fascination with objects from public spaces like parks, he said it was about "hope" and finding "the beauty in the abject". "Often it's abandoned landscapes or these more abject landscapes that appeal to me because in a very particular moment in a particular light you can see something beautiful in them, and that interests me," he says. "It's a collapse of nature and architecture."
